Babylon in the End Times

by gayla orrell

Babylon the Great is the condition (or place) of excessive greedy desire. She exists on seven hills or ALL seven continents. We need to stay out of her. Our God is a jealous god. He tells us to put no other god before Him. In the end, most will become worshipers of money and other selfish desires.

Before the last trumpet sounds, many will be changed in the twinkling of an eye. The last trumpet signifies Satan and his angels being kicked out of heaven. He knows he has just a little time to corrupt as many as possible. Christian believers will be spared the wrath of God and Satan's torments because they are the ones changed in the twinkling of an eye. Where do they go? The Bible describes a large group of people coming out of the great tribulation gathered to a lake of glass before the throne of God.

Reply from Watchman Bob: These are interesting comments, Gayla, but typical of the confusion concerning end-of-the-age events and places.

Yes, according to Revelation 17, Mystery (spiritual/religious) Babylon the Great dominates the whole world, but, according to Revelation 18, physical/secular/political Babylon the Great is one, modern nation/empire.

Also, Babylon the Great is much more than the condition or place of greedy desire - it is the condition and place of worship of false gods (ultimately Satan) pretending to be faith in the one, true God, Yahuah. Counterfeit Christianity, Islam and other false religions qualify a people and a place to be Babylon the Great. Please note that, more than any other nation, America is the home of false, worldly Christianity and other religions, and is rapidly being taken over by Islam.

Also, the last trump does not signify Satan and his angels being kicked out of Heaven or occur after the Redeemed are changed and taken to heaven in the twinkling of an eye. Scripture clearly teaches that the last trump will sound and the rapture will occur 3 1/2 years (42 months) after Satan is kicked out of Heaven and Satan's wrath (the "great tribulation") is poured out on true believers, and it will sound at the same time our Savior returns to catch His glorified Redeemed ones up to meet Him in the air.

Immediately after that, the wrath of Yahuah ("God") will be poured out on the unredeemed earth dwellers.

In other words, true Believers will be exempt from the Wrath of the Lord, which will be poured out on unbelievers after the "great tribulation" and the rapture, but at no time did our Savior or any of the writers of Scripture promise His disciples exemption from any tribulation, including the "great tribulation" (the wrath of Satan). Read Matthew 10, for example. The pre-trib rapture notion is an escapist fantasy that will destroy the faith of many when they have to go through the soon-coming Satanically-perpetrated holocaust to America and the world.

For the correct sequence of end-time events according to the Bible, please read the commentaries on Revelation 7:13-14, Revelation 12 - The Red Dragon Pursues God's People and Revelation 13 - Antimessiah Persecutes God's People, and When is the Rapture?.

We all need to prepare for the coming holocaust by "coming out" of Babylon spiritually (Rev 18:4) and trusting our Savior and God for the salvation of our souls, even if our bodies perish.
