The Father's Name & The Son's Name
by: Anonymous

I often wonder why he allows us so many variations on his Hebrew name? The poster says Elohim gave him Yahuah as his name, some use Yahweh, some just YHWH others Yahowah, Jehovah etc. So which is right? Everyone who uses these different variations claims they are right. I can not disprove nor say that Elohim did not give the poster that name Yahuah to use to address him in their personal communication with him. I personally use Yahweh and so far the spirit has not convicted me of not using it nor that it nor that it is not what the Father wants me to use, so until that time that the spirit convicts me not to use Yahweh I will continue to use it. Am I stubborn, rebellious, won't listen to reason? No, not at all. As I remarked, I see all kinds of variations being used and everyone claims they are right and everyone else is not spelling and saying it right.

Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, those who put their trust in man are fools.

Now I'm not saying anyone who doesn't use Yahweh is a fool, I'm not saying that at all!! I don't believe saying his name right nor spelling it right IS a salvation issue! I am sure neither the Father nor the son will bar me from the Kingdom because I did not spell nor say his name right. When I finally am face to face with Messiah THEN I will know 100% absolutely how to spell & say his name correctly.

What IS important is to realize our Elohim and his son ARE Hebrew steeped in Hebrew culture and practice. We can not study scripture and come away with a Greco-Roman or Hellenized viewpoint. It just is not possible even if the B'rit Hadashah or New Testament is written in Greek and a version of the Hebrew scriptures is written translated into Greek.

To me the Greek Jesus Christ as Christianity preaches IS the other gospel, IS other Messiah, NOT the Hebrew Messiah the Apostles preached or proclaimed. That to me is more important to realize and get right.

Reply from Watchman Bob: Good points. We must be careful not to be legalistic, even when it comes to using the "correct" names for the Father and the Son. It's what's in our hearts that counts. After all, an earthly father is delighted when his baby attempts to say his name, no matter how imperfect it may be. Isn't our Heavenly Father and His Son delighted when, in faith, we attempt to speak their names, even when, in ignorance, we don't speak them perfectly?
